Determination of Resonance Frequencies of Four Terminal Pair Air Capacitance Standards using S-Parameters

Abstract

A new approach is discussed for determining the series and parallel resonance frequencies of four terminal pair (4TP) air capacitance standards. The four terminal pair capacitance standards, 1 pF, 10 pF, 100 pF, 1000 pF are used as reference standards at CSIR-NPL and other NMI’s worldwide. Resonance frequencies are calculated using admittance and impedance values computed from scattering parameters employing vector network analyzer in the frequency range from 40 MHz to 500 MHz.
