A Review on Heat Transfer Enhancement from the Plate Fin-and-Tube Heat Exchanger with Vortex Generator
Abstract
The heat transfer from the tube heat exchangers to the atmosphere shall be enhanced by the adding the fins. And, it can be further enhanced by the inclusion of vortex generators. Stream-wise vortices were produced due to the presence of the vortex generators and it improves the flow mixing between the hot and cold fluids, alters the boundary layers and destabilizes the flow pattern. The overall impact will be the increased heat transfer and the corresponding flow losses. This review paper studies the research work carried out by various authors in – various types of vortex generators, flow conditions for such studies, experimental procedures, numerical simulation approaches. A comprehensive summary had been provided in Observations as well. Key Words: vortex generator, turbulence, heat transfer enhancement, longitudinal/lateral positioning etc.
